mobileStorm Launches Trigger-based Multi-Channel Messaging and Rules Engine

mobileStorm, a 13-year veteran of email, mobile, and social communication, announces the official release of the newest version of its healthcare messaging platform; unveils new capabilities that dramatically extend messaging for patient engagement.

Los Angeles, CA, March 1, 2013 – mobileStorm, Inc. (www.mobilestorm.com), one of the companies leading the charge in America for mHealth patient engagement, announced today that it has taken a significant leap forward with the latest version of its secure healthcare messaging platform, mobileStorm for Healthcare. mobileStorm for Healthcare clients and partners, can engage in relevant messaging and meaningful dialogs with their members. mobileStorm for Healthcare provides the ability to create and execute complex, condition-based, wellness programs, across multiple messaging channels.

“In other words, imagine a scenario where you have a beautiful and easy-to-use web-based (cloud) platform that enables you to quickly query your consumer data to find all Type 2 diabetic female patients over the age of 35, who have been a member for more than 3 years in the city of San Francisco”, states Joseph Shavit, VP of Products at mobileStorm. He continues “Then using our dead simple three-step campaign management tool, you can create a medication adherence campaign that allows you to message this population via multiple channels such as email, SMS, Push Notifications and our secure mobile messaging channel AppMail™, and create a series of rules around these messages that are based upon engagement, behavior, preference, date, and time. And get this, it’s conversational, so not only can we trigger a message if someone for instance hasn’t opened a message, or has clicked on a link with a message, but we can ask questions and provide responses based upon their answers. So to promote adherence, we could ask someone if they took their medicine. If they haven’t we could ask them why not? Did they forget or were they worried about the side effects? If it is the latter, we could send a follow up message and personalize that message with their doctor’s information, requesting that they call for more information. Or if they don’t respond to the message, deliver a Push Notification two days later reminding them to respond. The case studies are endless”.

The updated platform represents a huge step forward and is a major upgrade to mobileStorm’s messaging and communication code within the platform.

“I’m really excited,” said Jared Reitzin, Founder & CEO of mobileStorm. “We are at fifty percent smart phone penetration and headed towards eighty percent in the next few years. There is no better place to reach someone and influence behavior than on a device that never leaves our pocket. Our vision is simple; we are building the most intelligent messaging platform on the planet. Even though we have a ways to go before we can make that claim, its features like our multi-channel rules and dialogue engine, that is getting us closer to our vision. I think my team is doing some incredible, game changing stuff, and the best part is, it’s not all complex algorithms and code. As a client, or partner as we like to call them, you can see a picture of your account manager in the interface and with a click of a button chat with them, call, or email them. Its little things like this that I don’t believe the healthcare industry is used-to, yet it flows perfectly in line with our core value to provide Legendary Customer Service. We don’t just hand someone a technology platform and say “have a nice day”, we are with them every step of the way, helping them think about the incredible use cases they can create. We’re super busy helping payers, providers, pharmacies, and pharma companies, come up with all of the ways a communication platform like this can help them find new customers, reduce costs and provide an incredible user experience.”.

Our Booth is a Boat (mHealth Summit Event Recap)

Working closely with the Kony Solutions team, we rented a boat during the 2012 mHealth Summit in Washington D.C. The boat pulled up to the back of the hotel where we had our group load in for some dinner, drinks and dancing. There was a lot more talking then dancing going on. We held a contest and gave away prizes like the Kindle Fire HD and Apple TV. People had to answer ridiculous questions like “what decade was Madonna born in”. All-in-all it was a fun night and anytime someone asked me “where is your booth”, I just said “our booth is floating out back. Our booth is a boat”.

Highmark Partners with mobileStorm to Power New Community Outreach Mobile Messaging Plan

mobileStorm has been selected as the mobile messaging provider to increase Highmark’s member health, extend their outreach efforts.

Los Angeles, CA, March 20th, 2012 – mobileStorm, Inc. (www.mobilestorm.com) announced today that Highmark Inc., an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association based in Pittsburgh, has officially partnered with them to implement a mobile messaging initiative to reach members, employees, group customers and the community at large. Highmark’s objective is to reach their audiences on mobile devices, which are a preferred communications channel, and ultimately impact the overall health of their members and the community as a whole.

Highmark is currently implementing campaigns to influence healthy behaviors for members and its own employee base. Highmark is also evaluating opportunities to use text messaging to reach group customers and the general community.

“We have always sought the most innovative and sustainable ways to elevate the health and well being of our members and our community as a whole,” said Paul Puopolo, Vice President of Business Innovation at Highmark. “Part of providing great services is listening to people and communicating with them via the channels that they prefer to use. Mobile messaging creates relevant, personalized and proactive communication that is critically important to elevating member health. mobileStorm is an experienced solution provider who shares our vision and desire to create a healthy and productive community.”

“Highmark is the largest insurer in the state of Pennsylvania, and their need for consumer communication is growing.  Our multi-channel communication platform will be able to facilitate their growth and the need to communicate with their members across multiple devices,” said Jared Reitzin, Founder & CEO of mobileStorm.  “We just hit the tipping point with smartphone penetration in the U.S. and in the next five years, we will see close to ninety percent adoption.  The smartphone is quickly becoming the hub of a consumer’s communication lifestyle.  If you look at communication costs for channels like direct mail, it can be as high as eighty cents per member per month and take up to a week to have your message read.  And even then you cannot be sure someone read your message.  Text messages cost ten times less, and on average are read within four minutes.  Other mobile channels like mobile apps and push notifications are seeing similar results.  There are many different types of consumer messages sent from older and less engaged channels, which can easily be ported over to digital for mobile distribution.  If we can lower costs for our clients and at the same time keep their members healthier by a higher level of engagement, then we’ve done exactly what we’ve promised the industry we would do.”

mobileStorm for Healthcare is a multi-channel healthcare messaging system that enables healthcare payers and providers to launch powerful one-to-many campaigns with a virtually limitless number of members.  The platform uses the channels that are most relevant and accessible to the public, the ones on their mobile devices, in order to influence a wide variety of healthy behaviors and dramatically reduce expenses.  These include SMS, email and push notifications as well as AppMail™, a cutting edge new channel that allows companies to communicate PHI via HIPAA compliant messages directly to a secure inbox on the members’ mobile devices.

mobileStorm Launches New Offering Aimed at Creating the “Most Intelligent Communication Platform on the Planet”

mobileStorm, an 11-year veteran of mobile, email, and social communication, announces the release of mobileStorm 5.0, a powerfully designed, cloud-based communication solution for marketers and healthcare organizations.

Los Angeles, CA, Oct. 11th, 2011 – mobileStorm, Inc. (www.mobilestorm.com), a “communication powerhouse” according to the Ford Motor Company, announced today that it has officially released mobileStorm 5.0 (aka mS5), a new, cloud-based communication platform for healthcare payers and providers as well as marketers from a variety of industries.  “mS5 has been several years in the making,” says mobileStorm CEO & Founder Jared Reitzin. He continues, “We have studied where digital communication has been headed for the past decade. Now with the computing power of the cloud, enormous amounts of behavioral data can be crunched in real time, resulting in powerful recommendations that can enable any-sized business to reach the right person, via the right channel, at the right time. mobileStorm is working hard to make intelligent communication a reality, and mS5 is the first step towards that goal. Our mission is to create the most intelligent communication platform on the planet.”

mobileStorm’s offering represents the culmination of the company’s extensive experience servicing the messaging needs of major brands such as Humana, New Balance, and Kaiser Permanente.

Amazing User Experience

mobileStorm 5.0 focuses intensely on user experience. The system was designed with the Apple way of thinking that “less is more.” Designed to be a clear, simple, and easy-to-use tool for messaging, the cloud-based SaaS platform breaks the communication process down into three simple steps: plan, compose, and schedule. Front-end user experience technology such as HTML5 enables the “drag and drop” of many objects, screen slide transitions, and dynamic displays of data. An amazing user experience is incredibly valuable for the healthcare industry where typical enterprise software systems are bulky, ugly, and difficult to use. Mr. Reitzin continues, “We want our healthcare partners spending more time on keeping their consumers healthy and less time trying to figure out how to create and send messages.”

Integrated Communication

“The first phase to achieving our mission of communication intelligence is to ensure our clients can communicate with their customers over multiple channels; and we needed to make sure that the channels were not in their own silos,” says Mr. Reitzin. “With mS5, adding another channel to a single campaign is as simple as clicking a new tab. Imagine being able to run an SMS poll alongside an email offer, and both messages are working together to influence your customers to act. We spent two months alone validating how to provide a multi-channel campaign experience in three steps.”

Advanced Reporting

In the same way that multiple channels of communication have been integrated into a campaign creation experience, mobileStorm took an integrated approach to reporting. A client sending out an email and SMS campaign at the same time can view an integrated dashboard for detailed reports such as open and click-thru rates, message failures and reasons, complaints, and unsubscribe data.  mobileStorm’s goal, Mr. Reitzin said, “is to save our clients time and give them what they want–one screen with all of their important information in one place.”

Additional Features:

mobileStorm 5.0 also supports campaign goal-setting, advanced audience segmentation, message personalization, social media integration with Facebook and Twitter, advanced list management, as well as tightened security and one-click customer service. For its enterprise healthcare customers, mobileStorm received its HIPAA compliance in June of this year.

mobileStorm Launches First HIPAA-Compliant, Cloud-based mHealth Communication Platform; Announces Humana as a Beta Client

mobileStorm, an 11-year veteran of mobile messaging, announces “mobileStorm for Healthcare,” a patent-pending platform for Healthcare Payers, Providers, Software Solutions and Mobile App Developers, enabling the secure sending of PHI to smart phones.

San Diego, CA, May 11, 2011 – mobileStorm, Inc. (www.mobilestorm.com) announced today at the WLSA Convergence Summit the official release of “mobileStorm for Healthcare,” a secure mobile messaging platform that allows HIPAA-compliant transmission of PHI (Protected Health Information) to members and patients via mobile devices and smart phones.  mobileStorm has developed this capability in response to the healthcare industry’s need to control escalating expenses in the U.S., which totaled $2.5 trillion, or 17.3% of our national GDP, in 2009 alone. Recent widespread technological adoptions such as EMRs (Electronic Medical Records) are assisting healthcare organizations by bringing their processes into the modern age. The mobileStorm for Healthcare platform can “mobile-enable” any system. The communication tools that mobileStorm provides improve the efficiency of treatment and improve the outcomes for providers, while reducing costs to the health plans through lower utilization.  The key to reducing utilization is through adoption of wellness programs and prescription adherence.

mobileStorm for Healthcare is a straightforward solution, allowing any developer or IT department to integrate with the mobileStorm for Healthcare API (Application Programming Interface) which can power secure communication between systems such as EHR, EMR, and disease/appointment management tools. The API automates the delivery of AppMail™ messages which utilize AES-256 encryption. AppMail™ can deliver individual health notifications (presentable HTML or plain text) in a one-to-one or one-to-many fashion. In addition, the API delivers real-time analytics on important metrics such as who has read a message and for how long. AppMail™ is delivered to a secure inbox that can quickly be created using mobileStorm for Healthcare’s SDK (Software Development Kit).

The API also enables transmission of Push Notifications and SMS messages in order to utilize cross-channel communication strategies that drive higher response rates. mobileStorm for Healthcare takes a member-centric approach by allowing people to log into any web-connected device containing the organization’s mobile app or mobile site and securely access their inboxes and PHI messages. For organizations without a mobile app or site, mobileStorm offers custom solutions.

“We have been providing communication solutions for over 11 years and in the healthcare vertical for the last three years. We firmly believe that mHealth technology represents the most important social, cultural, and business impact that mobile technology has produced to date,” said Jared Reitzin, Founder & CEO of mobileStorm. “As a Communication Service Provider (CSP), we have worked with thousands of clients in hundreds of different industries which has given us a unique perspective of how mobile affects an individual’s behavior. All of us are patients as well as members, so it’s exciting to see the healthcare industry realize the massive impact that mobile can have on our behavior.”

As part of the official launch of mobileStorm for Healthcare, Humana has agreed to become a Beta customer in order to strengthen their efforts to help Humana members achieve lifelong well-being. Christopher Nicholson, Humana’s director of strategic communications, says “Humana is excited about the messaging capabilities that the secure mobile messaging center will bring us.  This partnership will allow us to deliver on multi-channel goals where we have not had a solution in the past. The ability to reach members ‘where they are’ with relevant, personalized and proactive communications is critically important.  mobileStorm is a wonderful mHealth vendor who truly wants to help us succeed.”

Mr. Reitzin continues, “mobileStorm for Healthcare represents the culmination of our experience, and we are confident that it is the most advanced HIPAA-compliant mobile platform available. Our company’s mission is to help our clients communicate with as much relevancy as possible, and with this new offering, I believe we are one step closer to completing our mission.”

mobileStorm for Healthcare is being unveiled and demonstrated at the WLSA Convergence Summit in San Diego, California, on May 12, 2011.  For more information on this event or to schedule a meeting with a mobileStorm representative, visit www.mobilestorm.com/wlsa.
