Get Ready for the Next Round of the Smart Phones War

Smart Phones WarLast year Apple changed the smart phone industry forever with the release of its wildly popular iPhone device. While other similar devices had been on the market for years, the iPhone used Apple’s unparalleled marketing prowess to quickly establish itself as a major player in the space. Plus, it just looked damn cool.

Still, while the iPhone was unquestionably a hit with consumers, it wasn’t as fully embraced in by businesses, which are the bread and butter of the smart phone industry. Granted that wasn’t necessarily Apple’s intended target with the first iPhone but it was still considered a drawback, especially since the device couldn’t synch to an enterprise mail server like Exchange. As a result Research in Motion’s Blackberry device continued to be the de facto standard when it came to business smart phone users.

DiGiorno’s Marketing: So Tasty!

DiGiorno's MarketingI once went on a “first date” with a weird guy that was planned at a trendy restaurant—and then when we met up, he kept raving about the wonderful cheap Thai food he’d had just before arriving. Uh, I thought the point of having a date at a restaurant was to, you know, eat there? I honestly wasn’t looking for a free meal; I was just starving after a long day at work, and was willing to “go Dutch.” The dude kept saying he was full but that I could get food by myself. By then I think I would’ve choked on it…

Suffice it to say, I wanted a way to get the heck outta dodge gracefully. Friends had offered to call my mobile in order to check up on me and, if necessary, provide me an alibi to leave—but their planned calls weren’t going to happen nearly soon enough. Memories of that ordeal came bubbling up recently when I saw a new campaign from DiGiorno, called “The Ditcher.”

Top Marketing BlogsI am an occasional reader of hundreds of marketing and business blogs so I decided to make my own list of the best blogs writing particularly about marketing that is digital. No more words, let’s get down to the list:

With our blog seasoned marketers have a place to sharpen their skills, and novices can become a part of the Digital Marketing revolution.

OK, with that out of the way, here are my top 10 marketing blogs:

More CAN-SPAM Changes

CAN-SPAM ChangesI took a little break from blogging, and am now back in the saddle again. However, rather than getting to hear me preach about deliverability every week, I am going to share my slot with my esteemed colleagues Jared Reitzin and Shaneli Ramratan. So enjoy the new schedule!

The FTC recently approved some slight modifications to the CAN-SPAM act. While these changes will not dramatically impact the way we send email, they are worth noting, as they do affect the way some mailers manage their unsubscribe process, among other things.
