Prashant, the answer is that if you want to send SMS messages quickly and reliably you should be doing a direct carrier connection and sending messages via SMPP. Check out my article on SMTP vs SMPP: http://www.mobilestorm.com/digital-marketing-blog/smtp-vs-smpp/

SMPP is the best for speeds, reliability and reporting. No matter what you are going to have to use an aggregator. Any aggregator would provide this carrier query service. You might want to look into using our APIs, we offer really good pricing.

We have a service called the carrier query service. We tap into the largest number portability database in the U.S. We can figure out the carrier on the fly if you are using our API. Is this something you would be interested in?

Dear Jared,

Seems like you have a ton of information. I would really like to plead you to help me with this. My problem is, currently i am sending the message using smtp, by finding out who the carrier is! given a phone number by some third party source. But as they say, i dont want to rely on the third party thing because what if it could break down sometime. I want to set up my own sms gateway and all the other essentials making me self reliant on whatever i need to make sms possible. My main question is " HOW WOULD I KNOW WHAT CARRIER A PARTICULAR PHONE NUMBER IS GIVEN THE PHONE NUMBER" . I also know that the sms gateway also figures out what carrier the particular phone number is! . And that is exactly whats breaking my head. Can you please tell me how can i figure that out. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee.... I am eagerly waiting for your reply.

Thanking you,

Did you find your ice cream MMS campaign appealed to a certain demographic?

Yeah, the lack of MMS is the one bummer of the latest iPhone, at least for me (I'd been thinking I'd get it if the price drop happened, but now am still on the fence). I'm wondering if the iPhone/MMS issue is because they want people to use more of the special iPhone data plan (and thus send pix via mobile email) and thus increase revenue?

I agree that this is a good but very unused channel. In Norway there haven't been many successful campaigns but we have some good ones. We have one now for an ice cream company where you send in a picture of yourself and get it posted on a website. The response is good but you usually get a higher response just using text messages. I don't think that mms use will pick up anytime soon, especially when iPhone don't come with mms.

Arturchik, we now have a two-way API so you can use us as an aggregator. Email sales@mobilestorm.com and tell us what you want to do. I will make sure you get a good deal.

In addition to this, you can also do one thing if you do not want to seo. In fact, The best way to generate traffic is SEO, SEM or PPC what if you don’t know any of these. Then, I would recommend you to follow the Traffic Tactics guidelines to generate high volume of traffic online. You can get these techniques in Traffic Tactics ebook. This free e-book can be downloaded directly at http://traffictactics.com/book/download.asp without any opt-in process. You will also enjoy the optimization part for landing pages. Thanks Jeff.

I agree, a campaign created especially for SMS is a great idea, Our company just ran one using Mozes,we got a good response. And the fact that it reaches more customers is a big selling point. We have been planning to run a similar such campaign again during our coming seminar. I think more people identify with SMS rather than fancy visuals on their mobiles. It is a great platform to leverage on.
