It’s shaping up to be a banner year for digital advertising.

According to freshly published industry data and projections issued this week, spending on ads across all connected devices (including mobile) will top $137 billion this year.

eMarketer’s latest estimates of worldwide paid media spending puts digital spend up 14.8% over 2013 levels, setting up 2014 to potentially shatter all previous digital advertising spending.

“The US is still the single biggest spender on digital ads, with North America thus the highest-spending region,” eMarketer says. “Nearly two in five digital ad dollars this year will come from advertisers in North America, compared with 28.6% in Asia-Pacific—where share is actually dropping slightly.”
