How do I change a SMS keyword?

The changing of a SMS keyword is not possible. Once you create the SMS list, you are indefinitely locked into that keyword for the life of that list. If you absolutely must change a keyword for an SMS list, there is the one way to do it. First, we must back up your existing SMS list.

1. Go to "Subscribers > Export Database" and click on "Export Subscribers" on the top right.

2. For the "Date Range", select "Entire Database".

3. Select the SMS list you want to change.

4. For the status, select "Active". Then click on "Submit".

Depending on how large your SMS list, this export will take a couple minutes. Once the "Save File" dialog comes up, re-name the file and save it somewhere on your computer.

Open your file up in Excel, and get rid of columns of information that are empty or columns that you aren't going to use. Make sure that you absolutely keep "Cell Phone Number" and "Cell Phone Carrier Code".

5. Go back to the control panel window and navigate to "Manage Lists > My Lists". Choose the SMS list you want to change the keyword for, and delete the list. Click on "Ok" to confirm that you understand you are deleting a list.

6. Once the list is deleted, it's time to create another SMS list. If you are unfamiliar with this process, please read this article.

7. Now that you have your new SMS list created with the new keyword word you want, it's time to upload your subscribers. Go to "Subscribers > Add Multiple Subscribers". (If you need help uploading a file, read this article.)
