How-To: Create a Poll SMS Campaign

Campaigns > SMS Messages

SMS Poll Campaign: Collect text-in results from an online or off-line poll.

1. Click on "Add SMS Campaign".

2. Choose "Create Campaign" under the "Outbound" section from the first step.

3. Choose your list, and give your campaign a name. (Choosing a target is not required.) Click on "Continue" to advance to the next step.

4. Choose the "Poll" campaign type. Then select what type of poll you want to conduct. There are three different types of polls that can be created.

Yes/No – Ex: "Do you think the Yankees should trade A-Rod? Text Keyword Yes or Keyword No"

True/False – Ex: "I think President Bush is doing a good job handling the war. Text Keyword True or Keyword False"

Multiple Choice – Ex: "What is your favorite vodka? Text 'keyword' A for Grey Goose, 'keyword' B for Absolut, 'keyword C for Belevdere"

If you have a personalized option you'd like to insert, select a token and click on "Insert".

For this example, I have choosen a "Yes/No" poll campaign.

Note: Please do not copy/paste text from Word or Outlook into the Message Box. Your delivery may be affected by doing this so instead, please type the text directly into the box below.

After you have finished typing your initial poll question that will be sent to your SMS list, you have the option to choose if you want to send them auto responses. If you select "No", they will not receive a message back once they participate in the poll. If you select, "Yes", then you will able to specify what message they get back depending on their answer.

The last step of this page is to specify a date and time to stop the poll. Tracking begins as soon as you send the campaign. Once the above date and time are reached, users will no longer be able to participate in the SMS poll.

5. Once you are finished typing your message, click on "Continue".

6. You have now reached the final step of creating an SMS campaign. These are our default sending options.

Send Now: This sends your message out either immediately or within a range of 10 minute increments up to one hour.

Schedule Message: This allows you to schedule the message for a future time/date. The campaign will be sent accordingly but only as a one-time message.

Recurring: If you have a message that you wish to be delivered multiple times, you should use this option to deliver the campaign. You may set up the message to be delivered either every day/week/month or on selected dates.

Send to Test Account: It is recommended that you first send your message to a test group prior to sending to the entire list.

Save as Draft: This is good option if you are not ready to send your campaign. It will be saved with all of the changes you have made, and ready for you to send at your convenience at a later time.
