Thanks for your articulate thoughts, Nancy. I think that digital media is still too "new" for certain decision-makers at the big, stalwart companies. Or that the idea of "we'll just do what we've always done because that's made us successful in the past" still pervades. They've just got to see/think about the practical side, as well as pay attention to market figures. And as far as the media fuss over people lining up outside stores literally hours after their Thanksgiving feasts: it's merely an easy, dependable way for newspapers to have a local front page story and photo! (I've pulled that duty before)

Amen! With all of the fuss over all of those folks lined up in front of brick and mortar stores on Thanksgiving in order to be first in line for the Wii on Black Friday, I wondered what retailers were doing to lure people into their stores from the comfort of their own homes? They WERE advertising Cyber Monday and internet deals, but not as intelligently as they could have been.

I think that targeted, intelligent messaging is the way to get shoppers back to their virtual shopping carts. I'm not sure I follow why more of the large retailers aren't taking advantage of this channel. There are so many who would rather shop at home than brave the stores. Crazy!
